Senior CAE Engineer, Mechanical Simulation

In our new Electric Vehicle Business Line (EVBL) we develop and manufacture battery systems from 48V up to High Voltage for automotive and industrial applications. Valmet Automotive covers the full range from contract manufacturing to a TIER1 system supplier.


Here’s where you’ll make an impact:
In product development projects you will perform Mechanical simulations. These simulations focus on impact, fatigue and vibration simulations in EV and industrial battery applications. In projects you will lead a group of internal and external simulation engineers, co-operate, and communicate closely with internal or external customers, report simulation results and propose improvements. You have to also work closely with testing in order to get input data for simulations and to validate simulation results and models. You will also take part into planning and scheduling FEA simulations in projects. You will report to Technical Project Manager, Lead Mechanical Engineer and Lead Simulation Engineer.   


In the field of simulation your responsibility is to actively follow trends and propose internal development directions. You develop simulation methods and best practices according to approved plan. After proper evaluation you will take new tools and methods into daily use. You are also able to coach and support colleagues in simulation team.


We hope that you would have:

  • more than 5-year experience in FEA/FEM and knowledge of running linear and non-linear analysis
  • familiar with structural mechanics as well as modelling materials and joints in simulation
  • master at least one major FEA software like OptiStruct, RADIOSS, Nastran, ABAQUS, LS-Dyna, ANSYS, PAM-Crash
  • preferably some experience from ANSA or HyperMesh preprocessing tools
  • any battery or automotive experience is beneficial
  • understand product development process and have experience of creating a concept and developing it into series production
  • able to share your technical expertise and knowledge with others and to create new solutions by innovative thinking
  • good co-operative skills and can-do attitude with some leadership experience will help you to succeed in future tasks
  • able to communicate clearly and precisely
  • fluent in English, but Finnish and German is an asset
