CAE Engineer, System Simulation

In our new Electric Vehicle Business Line (EVBL) we develop and manufacture battery systems from 48V up to High Voltage for automotive and industrial applications. Valmet Automotive covers the full range from contract manufacturing to a TIER1 system supplier.


Job description
In development projects you will develop and maintain 1D system simulation models of the battery and subsystems. You will also perform 1D simulations, analyze result and prepare reports with your own proposals to support other domains during development projects and concept definition. 
Focus of the job is to develop 1D simulation models of HV Battery systems. These include models for system controller (BMS), battery cell, battery system energy & power, thermal & cooling and battery system lifetime. You will also co-operate with testing department to acquire necessary input for simulations and to verify and correlate your simulation results. As a CAE Engineer you will report to Project Manager, System Architect and Simulation Manager. 
In the field of simulation your responsibility is to actively follow trends and propose development directions for simulation domain. You develop 1D simulation methods and best practices according to approved plan. 


We expect you to have
You have gained at least 3-year experience in 1D system simulation in the field of battery technology or electronics. You have a BSc/MSc/PhD degree in engineering. You are analytical person with knowledge of heat transfer principles, thermodynamics and physics. You master at least one system simulation software e.g. MATLAB/Simulink and have basic knowledge of some 3D CAD and simulation software like Catia V5, ANSYS/Fluent. Programming is not completely unfamiliar to you, so that you can develop software tools for simulation and processing the accumulated data for further use. You understand and have experience of product development process.  Any Lithium Ion Battery or automotive experience is beneficial. Depending on your experience, the role can as well be a Senior CAE Engineer, System Simulation. 


You are able to share your technical expertise and knowledge with others and to create new solutions by innovative thinking.  Good co-operative skills and can-do attitude with leadership potential will help you to succeed in future tasks. You are able to communicate clearly and precisely. Since we are a multicultural company, we expect you the be fluent in English. Finnish and German skills are an asset.
