Battery Product Safety Engineer (m/f/d); Munich/Bad Friedrichshall; Germany

In our new Electric Vehicle Business Line (EVBL) we develop and manufacture battery systems from 48V up to High Voltage for automotive and industrial applications. Valmet Automotive covers the full range from contract manufacturing to a TIER1 system supplier.

 

Your challenge

  • Responsible engineer for technical battery safety risk assessments, definition of safety concepts and technical countermeasures
  • Responsible for decisions on engineering level to internal and external stakeholders and internal release recommendations to middle and senior management
  • Development and evaluation of safety concepts
  • Safety Risk assessments and deriving of technical countermeasures
  • Member of the engineering core team
  • Highlight safety issues and interdependencies for all stakeholders
  • Technical support for engineering domains regarding safety concepts
  • Thermal propagation design evaluation and development support
  • Requirements engineering for electrical (HV), mechanical, thermal and chemical safety customer requirements according to ECE, GB, ISO & LV-123 etc.
  • Evaluation and analysis of product safety related requirements
  • Tracking and assurance of realization of product safety concepts and technical compliance

 

We expect you to have/are

  • Masters degree in electrical engineering, automotive engineering, mechatronics or comparable
  • +2 years experience and deep understanding of li-ion battery systems
  • Knowledge of all relevant battery system components
  • Deep understanding of interaction between different disciplines e.g. Electrical, Mechanical, Thermal & Chemical
  • Knowledge of impacts and interdependencies due to changes within the battery system
  • Experience with requirements management SW (i.e. Polarion, DOORS etc)
  • Fluent English & German communication skills
  • Experience with German automotive OEMs
