Battery Engineer Product Safety & Technical Compliance (m/f/d); Munich; Germany

In our new Electric Vehicle Business Line (EVBL) we develop and manufacture battery systems from 48V up to High Voltage for automotive and industrial applications. Valmet Automotive covers the full range from contract manufacturing to a TIER1 system supplier.


Your challenge

  • Specification of safety requirements as well as test and verification criteria
  • Evaluation and analysis of product safety related requirements
  • derivation of system and component requirements within the scope of product safety related requirements
  • Identification and definition of design measures related to product safety
  • Technical market observation with the scope on state-of-the-art development
  • Support and active involvement within the scope of robust design development
  • Definition of Test and Verification extent derived from product safety requirements
  • Documentation of product safety requirements within the scope of design evidence
  • Tracking and assurance of realization of product safety concepts and technical compliance
  • Key position and Cross functional work
  • Responsible for Creation of design measures backlog derived from safety related requirements
  • Creation of a Network between VA and regulatory authorities e.g. CATARC
  • Creation of a Network between VA and test institutes e.g. (Universities) to verify design measures


We expect you to have/are

  • Strong Battery Systems design experience
  • Strong understanding of certification and legislation relevant requirements ECER100.2, KMVSS, FMVSS,
  • Strong understanding of physical correlation
  • Good understanding of Project management, Functional safety (ISO 26262), CAD tools e.g. Catia, Familiar with Aspice processes,
  • Also good understanding of Product liability and Manufacturer liability
  • Leading and intelligent delegating capability
  • Strong personal responsibility
  • Very good communication skills with customer, supplier and internal stake holders
  • Ability for fast and efficient issue management
